The Fel Fire OBS Shader is one of my favorite ways to add dramatic, high-impact visuals to a live stream. Designed specifically for OBS Studio, this shader creates a vivid, animated green flame effect that rises from the bottom of your source. The result is a dynamic, chaotic fire that feels alive, energetic, and perfectly suited for dark fantasy themes, RPG content, boss fights, intense moments, or stylized overlays.

When I use the Fel Fire shader in my scenes, it immediately transforms the atmosphere. Instead of a static overlay, I get movement, energy, and a sense of power that enhances the entire production. Whether I’m streaming a fantasy game, showcasing a dramatic transition, or building a custom alert animation, this shader adds a professional and cinematic touch.

Visual Style and Animated Behavior

The core strength of this shader lies in its fluid animation and carefully designed flame structure. The fire is not just a simple color overlay. It is procedurally generated, meaning it evolves and moves continuously, creating an organic and unpredictable flame pattern.

FelHeight determines how much vertical space the flames occupy. I can keep it subtle at the bottom of the screen or extend it higher for a more dominant presence.

FellIntensity adjusts the brightness and prominence of the fire. Increasing it creates a stronger glow, while lowering it makes the effect more subdued and distant.

FelTurbulence influences how jagged and chaotic the flame edges appear. Higher settings result in wilder, more unstable flames.

ShapeDistort introduces curved warping to the flame shapes. This small but powerful setting adds a swirling, organic movement that enhances realism without introducing jitter.

Installation and Critical Setup

To use the Fel Fire OBS Shader, I first install the OBS Shaderfilter plugin. This plugin enables custom shader effects within OBS Studio and is required for the fire animation to function properly.

After adding the shader as a filter to a source, there is one essential configuration step I always follow:

I check “Load shader text file” and make sure to uncheck “Use Effect File (.effect)”.

If the effect file option remains enabled, the internal time variables will not update correctly. That means the flames will appear frozen instead of animated. Once configured properly, the fire will move smoothly and continuously.
